Non-beginners of all ages, both kids and adults, can challenge others at their level in a family friendly setting.

The tournament is organized by Castle Chess of San Antonio (USCF Affiliate A6043024) and is open to anyone who meets the minimum rating requirement.

Location

Weston Centre, Geekdom Event Center (11th floor)
112 E Pecan St
San Antonio, TX 78205

Free Parking is available in the Weston Centre parking garage. Enter from Soledad.

Sections

A variable number of small sections will formed by dividing the player pool in rank order by USCF rating. All sections but the lowest will be exactly 8 players. The lowest section will be 8 to 15 players.

The site can take up to 64 players. All players must have a USCF rating >= 400; no unrated players.

Use of clocks and taking of notation is required and will be enforced of all players in all sections. The increment time control was chosen to allow notation to continue even in time pressure. Sets and notation sheets will be provided. Please bring clocks.

For sections that finish early, extra rated games are available by request, at director discretion.

Entry Fee: $20 with self-serve online registration and payment by Thursday prior; otherwise $25 for premium personalized service on site. Prizes

Variable prizes: $60 1st and $30 2nd per section guaranteed; Top section prizes double to $120 1st and $60 2nd based on 30 players; at 60 players second section doubles to $120/$60 also. Top family prizes (any two family member scores across sections) $60 first, $30 second b/45 players. Bottom section prizes add 3rd prize of $30 at 11 players and 4th prize of $30 at 14 players. Pairing team blocks may be honored at director’s discretion, but score group takes priority (variation 28N3 for all score groups).
